If your computer is connected to Internet you are sharing online resources on a vast information network with millions of other online surfers. However, when something is shared it is left open for misuse. This misuse usually comes from viruses, spywares and some vicious pop-ups.

Protecting your computer involves three steps:

Losing files, system unstable and worst case everything on your hard drive is wiped-out. Anti-virus software will constantly monitor your system against viruses and periodically scan your computer hard drive to clean your system from viruses. Good antivirus software will update itself to detect the latest virus signatures and find viruses before they infect your PC and permanently stop the virus threat.

Firewalls
There are two types of firewalls’ software and hardware. Basically firewall constantly guards your system. Firewall will verify each peace of information entering your system and each piece of information leaving your system. If anything suspicious it will be blocked. For maximum safety it is better to use both software and hardware firewalls. Hardware firewall usually is built-in home-networking routers. If you own a router to connect more then one computer to the Internet than check the router specification your system might be already protected.
