Electric Assist Bikes- Power Sources

Posted June 19th by admin in Sports

Have you ever wanted to know how an electric bike is run and from where does it get its power? Read the article and you should have all your doubts cleared in no time. From the invention of the first motorized vehicle, the main source of power for the bikes was the internal combustion engine and such has been the effectiveness of the engine, it is still continuing to be used.
The power can be given to motorized vehicle in a number of ways, such as: electric-assist-bike-power-source
1) A motor is built onto a hub and the rear wheel or the front wheel is powered by it. Some examples include Heinzmann, Sustain Cycles etc.
2) The rear wheel of the vehicle is driven with the help of a chain or rubber belt that is attached to a motor that is either mounted on the frame of the vehicle or behind the user. The bikes that are manufactured through such a process have engine powers of less than 50 cc and hence most do not require registration or licenses. Some examples include Staton, Whizzer etc.
3) The front or rear wheel is powered with the help of a roller or rubber belt that is attached to a motor that is hung just above the driver. Such bikes are called ‘friction drive’ powered bikes. Some examples include Staton, Europe Zeta etc.
4) A sprocket is used to power the wheels which may require the user to pedal his way to power.
